The Bigu Gompa Trek is a peaceful and spiritually enriching journey in the remote eastern region of Nepal. Besides Monsoon Season (June-Mid September), all the other months are considered as the best time to visit as we can expect mild temperature in the day and night and clear blue sky an no more snow on the trails. However, the unpredictable weather pattern of mountain can cause frequent changes in the weather of specific places. Before trekking, we will inform the estimated weather pattern and temperature for trekking period during briefing session.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be welcomed by a beautiful garland of seasonal flowers at the gate of the International Arrival Terminal.
With the final counting and loading of luggage into the vehicle, you will transfer to the hotel and check in.
After welcome refreshments, there will be a short briefing with the Infusion Trip Adventure Representative. You will get general information and orientation about the tour or trek.
Then you have free time in Kathmandu. You can explore the city.

Day 02: Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu and Trek Preparation
After breakfast, proceed for the sightseeing tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu.
Pashupatinath Temple – the Temple of Lord Shiva situated on the bank of the holy Bagmati River.
Bouddhanath Stupa- an ancient colossal stupa and the centre of Tibetan Buddhism in the world.
Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu Durbar Square) – an ancient durbar (palace) with numerous old palaces, temples and pagodas, the Temple of Living Goddess “Kumari”, and the Kasthamandap Temple, which is believed to be constructed from the wood of a single tree from which Kathmandu derives its name.
We can also take you on a walk through the very busy & interesting traditional market of Asan & Indrachok. After the tour return to the hotel for rest and refreshments.
In the evening – welcome dinner and traditional show in an authentic Nepali restaurant in Kathmandu. You will enjoy your dinner with different types of dances.

Day 03: Drive to Singati (1,000m/3,280ft)
After an early morning breakfast in Kathmandu, you will set off on a scenic drive towards Singati, Dolakha. The journey takes around 7–8 hours, following the Araniko Highway through picturesque countryside, terraced fields, beautiful mountain views and small settlements, with glimpses of the Sun Koshi River along the way.
After passing Charikot, the headquarters of Dolakha district, we will continue on winding roads until we reach Singati. The town is quiet and peaceful, perfect for relaxing after the drive and exploring the area.

Day 04: Trek to Chilling Kharka (1,700m/5,576ft)
After breakfast, begin the trek from Singati towards Chhiling Kharka with a scenic and gradually ascending journey through remote Himalayan landscapes. The trail follows rugged paths alongside flowing rivers, passing through traditional villages and terraced fields. As we gain elevation, the environment shifts into dense forests and alpine terrain, offering peaceful surroundings and occasional glimpses of distant snow-capped peaks. The route becomes quieter and more isolated, making it ideal for trekkers seeking a less crowded experience. Upon reaching Chhiling Kharka, set up the camp and explore the local village.

Day 05: Trek to Bigu Gompa (2,500m/8,200ft)
After breakfast, continue trek towards Bigu Gompa. the trail becomes more culturally immersive while still maintaining its raw Himalayan charm. The path gradually ascends through alpine meadows and scattered yak pastures, with occasional stone huts used by herders. As we move closer to Bigu, the landscape transitions into a mix of forested ridges and open viewpoints, offering beautiful panoramas of the surrounding hills and distant peaks.
Approaching Bigu Gompa, we begin to notice signs of spiritual life-prayer flags fluttering in the wind, mani walls, and small chortens along the trail. The monastery itself, also known as Bigu Monastery, is perched peacefully on a hillside, surrounded by traditional Sherpa and Tamang settlements. This sacred site is an important Buddhist center, especially known for its nunnery, where daily rituals and prayers create a serene and spiritual atmosphere.
Reaching Bigu Gompa not only marks a significant point in the trek but also offers a unique cultural experience, blending natural beauty with deep-rooted Himalayan traditions.

Day 06:Trek to Dolang Sa (2,400m/7.872ft) via Tin Sangla Pass (3,320m/10,890ft)
This day, we will trek to Dolang Sa via Tin Bangla Pass which is a scenic journey through Dolakha’s hills and remote villages. From Bigu Gompa, the trail descends gently through forests and terraced fields before reaching Tin Sangla, a small village where we can rest and enjoy local hospitality. Continuing onward, the trail gradually climbs again toward Dolang Sa, offering beautiful views of surrounding mountains, rivers, and traditional farms along the way.

Day 07: Trek to Gorthali (1,650m/5,412ft)
This day, it will be a gentle journey through Dolakha’s scenic countryside. Along the way, we will see local farms, streams, and traditional homes, with chances to rest at teahouses or village stops. Day 08: Trek to Barhabise (850m/2,788ft)

Day 09: Drive back to Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)
The drive from Barhabise to Kathmandu takes us along the scenic Araniko Highway, . We will pass through forests, rivers, and small towns, with occasional stops at local eateries or viewpoints. The road winds through settlements like Dhulikhel and Banepa, offering glimpses of terraced fields, traditional homes, and distant mountains. Depending on traffic and road conditions, the drive usually takes around 6-7 hours. As we approach Kathmandu, the valley opens up, and the bustling city life gradually replaces the quiet countryside, marking a smooth end to your journey from Dolakha.
