Dudhkunda Lake trek is an off-beaten trek and less crowded adventure walk in the lower region of Everest that leads to the sacred lake of Dudhkunda, which means Milky White Lake, and the base of Mt. Numbur. This trek offers you the classical hospitality offered by Sherpa Community and get the traditional services as we follow the partial route of old Jiri-Everest Trail.
This 11 days trip included the excursion of Kathmandu followed by the driving to Phaplu, the trekking starting point. This trek starts from Phaplu towards Ringmu and further to Saharsabeni. We have to do day hiking to Dudhkunda Lake as there is no accommodation facilities nearby to the lake and return to Shaharsabeni for overnight stay. On the way back, we will explore Thupten Choeling Monastery and descend to Junbesi which is one of the popular stop of classical route of Jiri-Everest Trail.

Best Time to Visit
Spring Season (March-May) and Autumn Season (September to Early December) are considered as the best time to go Dudhkunda Lake as we can expect mild temperature in the day and night and clear blue sky. However, the unpredictable weather pattern of mountain can cause frequent changes in the weather of specific places. Before trekking, we will inform the estimated weather pattern and temperature for trekking period during briefing session.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be welcomed by a beautiful garland of seasonal flowers at the gate of the International Arrival Terminal.
With the final counting and loading of luggage into the vehicle, you will transfer to the hotel and check in.
After welcome refreshments, there will be a short briefing with the Infusion Trip Adventure Representative. You will get general information and orientation about the tour or trek.
Then you have free time in Kathmandu. You can explore the city.
In the evening – welcome dinner and traditional show in an authentic Nepali restaurant in Kathmandu. You will enjoy your dinner with different types of dances.

Day 02: Half-Day Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu and drive to Mulkot (495m/1,625ft)
After breakfast, proceed for a half-day sightseeing tour of UNESCO’s World Heritage Site, including Pashupatinath Temple and Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
After the sightseeing tour, start to drive to Mulkot for about 4 hours via BP Highway to about 132 Km. Upon arrival at Mulkot, check into the resort and get refreshments with swimming.

Day 03: Drive to Phaplu (2450m/8,036ft)
In the morning, check out from the hotel and continue to drive following the Koshi River to Khurkot and take a route to Ghurmi and further to Phaplu. The road drive passes through dense forests, terraced rice fields and several big rivers. Upon arrival at Phaplu, check into the lodge. In the evening, stroll around the market and explore the local culture of the Sherpa Community.

Day 04: Trek to Ringmu (2,800m)
In the morning, meet the trekking support team of Assistant Guide and Porters. We will start to hike through the rhododendron forests and pleasant green meadows to reach Ringmu. After check into the lodge, we will explore the area and visit Yak Cheese Factory and also try local apple wine as well.

Day 05: Trek to Saharsbeni (4,035m)
On this day, we will walk uphill to the elevation of 3,800m to the Yak pasture land. The trail is quite steep and long. We will find the changes in the vegetation, landscapes and wildlife. Along the way, we will enjoy the beautiful views of the Himalayan Ranges. Upon arrival at Saharsbeni, we will set up camp and prepare for the next day.

Day 06: Full-day excursion to Dudhkunda (4,640m/15,220ft)
Early morning, start trek to hike to Dudh Kunda, which translates as Milky Lake. En route, we will visit another Lake, Kalo Pokhari. When we reach Dudh Kunda Lake, we will be able to see darkish blue-tinged water with the backdrop of Numbur (6,959m) and Karyzlung (6,681) towering over it. This is an ideal location for capturing photos and indulging in peace and Himalayan serenity.
Later trek down to Saharsbeni for an overnight stay.

Day 07: Trek to Junbesi (2,700m/8,856ft)
Leaving Saharsbeni, we will ascend and cross Pare Dande and descend to Shengeephuk (4,060m). We will be able to see the panoramic view of the Himalayas. On the way down, we will visit Thupten Choling Gumba and continue walking to Junbesi.

Day 08: Trek to Phaplu (2450m)
This is the final day of trekking. In the morning, visit Thupten Choling Monastery, established in the 19th Century, which provides in-depth insights into the region’s culture and religious traditions. Then we will descend to Phaplu via Beni Ghat with a pleasant walk through the coniferous, fragrant forests, streams, small waterfalls, suspension bridges, lush green hills and stunning views of mountains.

Day 09: Drive back to Kathmandu
After breakfast, start a scenic drive to Kathmandu via the Khurkot-Salleri road and BP Highway. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, check into the hotel. The rest of the day is free for refreshments.
