Introduction

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most spectacular and less-crowded trekking adventures, offering an authentic blend of natural beauty and cultural richness. Encircling Mt. Manaslu (8,163m), the world’s eighth-highest peak, this trek takes you through remote valleys, lush forests, glacial rivers, and high mountain passes. The journey passes traditional Gurung and Tibetan-influenced villages, where ancient monasteries, prayer wheels, and mani walls reflect centuries-old Buddhist culture.

A major highlight of the Manaslu Circuit Trek is crossing the Larkya La Pass (5,160m), one of the most dramatic Himalayan passes, which rewards trekkers with breathtaking views of Manaslu, Himlung, Cheo Himal, and Annapurna ranges. Best Season 

Spring Season (March-May) and Autumn Season (September to Early December) are considered as the best time to go Manaslu Circuit Trek as we can expect mild temperature in the day and night and clear blue sky. However, the unpredictable weather pattern of mountain can cause frequent changes in the weather of specific places. Before trekking, we will inform the estimated weather pattern and temperature for trekking period during briefing session.

As we do trekking from temperate to snowline regions upto 5,106m, we will experience difference in  temperature, so we must be prepared to tackle the hazardous situation. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be welcomed by a beautiful garland of seasonal flowers at the gate of the International Arrival Terminal. With the final counting and loading of luggage into the vehicle, you will transfer to the hotel and check in.
After welcome refreshments, there will be a short briefing with the Infusion Trip Adventure Representative. You will get general information and orientation about the tour or trek. Then you have free time in Kathmandu. You can explore the city.

In the evening – welcome dinner and traditional show in an authentic Nepali restaurant in Kathmandu. You will enjoy your dinner with different types of dances.

Day 02: Trek Preparation Day

After breakfast, proceed for a half-day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu City including the World Heritage Sites. It includes a tour of two sites below:
Pashupatinath Temple – the Temple of Lord Shiva situated on the bank of the holy Bagmati River. The temple is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Bouddhanath Stupa– an ancient colossal stupa and the center of Tibetan Buddhism in the world.

The rest of the day is free for trekking preparation, such as trekking gear shopping, packing on a duffle bag, etc. Moreover, we will assist you to get Manaslu Restricted Area Permit,  Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) Permit, TIMS Card.

Day 03: Drive to Doban(880m/2,887ft)

After breakfast in Kathmandu, start a scenic drive following the Prithvi Highway along the Trishuli River, offering picturesque views of terraced fields, traditional villages, and the distant Himalayan peaks. Leaving the highway at Malekhu, the route continues toward Dhadingbesi and further to Arughat Bazaar. From there, we will drive around narrow cliffside roads to Soti Khola.

From here, the road is rough and bumpy following the Budhi Gandaki River through narrow valleys and rural settlements until reaching Doban via Machha Khola.

Day 04: Trek to Philim (1,575m/5,168ft)

After breakfast, the trek begins with a gentle walk passing through lush forests, terraced fields, and small settlements following alongside the Budhi Gandaki River. Walking through lush forests, suspension bridges, and small villages, you gradually ascend the rugged path that leads toward Jagat.

The trail gradually ascends through Salleri and Sirdibas, where you can enjoy views of Shringi Himal and experience the traditional Gurung culture.

Crossing a long suspension bridge over the Budhi Gandaki, the route continues with gentle ascents and descents until reaching the beautiful Gurung village of Philim.

Day 05: Trek to Deng (1,880m/6,168ft)

Leaving Philim, the trail continues through lush pine forests and terraced farmlands with occasional views of cascading waterfalls along the Budhi Gandaki Valley. The route gently ascends past Ekle Bhatti before entering a more remote and narrower gorge, where the river flows dramatically between steep cliffs. Passing small settlements and mani walls, the path leads through serene forests rich in biodiversity and crosses several suspension bridges. The landscape gradually becomes wilder and more rugged as you trek further into the Manaslu region. After a steady day of walking, we will finally arrive at Deng and check into the lodge.

Day 06: Trek to Namrung (2,600m/8,531ft)

After breakfast, begin to walk towards Namrung. The trail follows the Budi Gandaki River, passing through several small settlements and forests along the way. We then begin crossing bridges and walking through lush valleys, gradually ascending towards Ghap, a village rich in culture with beautifully decorated mani walls and houses.

The trail continues through dense forests of rhododendron, pine, and bamboo, where we might spot birds and monkeys. From Ghap, the trek steadily upwards through a gorge and pass by scenic waterfalls before reaching Namrung, a picturesque village offering the first clear views of the snowy peaks of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and Himal Chuli.

Day 07: Trek to Shyala (3,510m/11,516ft)

After breakfast, begin the trek with a steady ascent through lush forests of rhododendron, oak, and fir, offering refreshing mountain air and occasional glimpses of snowcapped peaks. As the trail continues, you pass through picturesque villages like Bhanjam and Sho, where traditional stone houses, terraced fields, and mani walls reflect the rich Tibetan-influenced culture of the Nubri region. The views become increasingly spectacular, with Manaslu, Himal Chuli, and Ganesh Himal dominating the horizon. After a gradual climb, you arrive at Lho, a beautiful village perched on a hillside, famous for its large Ribung Monastery and breathtaking panoramas of Mt. Manaslu glowing in the evening light.

From Lho, the trail follows a gentle climb through dense pine and rhododendron forests, passing chortens and mani walls that highlight the region’s deep Buddhist culture. The route takes you through the picturesque village of Shyala.

Day 08: Trek to Samagaon (3,530m/11,582ft) and hike to Manaslu Base Camp (4,830m/15,842ft)

Leaving Shyala, continue trek towards Samagaon. As we approach Samagaun, we begin to notice the increasing influence of Tibetan culture, reflected in the mani walls, prayer flags, and monasteries that dot the area. Samagaun itself is a large and beautiful village, one of the highlights of the Manaslu Circuit, set against the backdrop of towering snow peaks and the Manaslu Glacier. This village serves as an excellent place for acclimatization. After some rest, start hiking to Pungyen Gompa, a serene monastery set on a ridge with breathtaking views of Mt. Manaslu and the surrounding glaciers.

Day 09: Acclimatization Day at Samagaon.

An acclimatization day at Samagaon is both refreshing and rewarding, allowing you to adapt to the altitude while exploring the cultural and natural beauty of the region. After breakfast, hike up to Manaslu Base Camp or the glacial lake of Birendra Tal, offering close encounters with the majestic icefalls and dramatic mountain scenery. Within the village, you can wander through narrow lanes lined with traditional stone houses, visit ancient monasteries, and observe the daily lifestyle of the Nubri people, strongly influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. This acclimatization day not only helps your body adjust to the altitude but also enriches your trekking experience with cultural immersion and stunning Himalayan vistas.

Day 10: Trek to Samdo (3,860m/12,664ft)

From Samagaun, the trail to Samdo begins with a gradual walk through wide pastures and yak grazing fields along the valley floor. The route follows the Budhi Gandaki River upstream, with the majestic north face of Manaslu towering behind you. The path is easy and mostly flat, allowing you to enjoy the crisp mountain air and stunning views of glaciers, surrounding peaks, and the changing alpine scenery. As you walk further, the landscape becomes more barren and rugged, with fewer trees and more open fields, signaling that you are entering higher altitudes.

On the way, we will pass mani walls, chortens, and small herder settlements that reflect the deep Tibetan influence in this region. The walk is peaceful and meditative, with the sound of the flowing river. After a few hours of steady trekking, you reach the charming village of Samdo. From here, we get panoramic views of Samdo Peak, Manaslu, and other surrounding mountains, making it an ideal place to acclimatize before heading toward the Larkya La Pass.

Day 11: Trek to Dharmsala(4,460m/14,633ft)

From Samdo, the trail to Dharmasala (also called Larkya Phedi) is a short but important day, as we gain altitude and prepare for crossing the Larkya La Pass. The path begins with a gentle descent across a wooden bridge over the Budhi Gandaki River, after which it gradually ascends along barren hillsides with wide, open views of the surrounding mountains. We can get difference in vegetation as it becomes sparse, and the landscape feels stark yet majestic, with rugged cliffs, rocky terrain, and distant glaciers creating a dramatic backdrop.

As you trek higher, we may encounter yak caravans carrying goods across the border and spot blue sheep grazing on the hillsides.

 

After a few hours of trekking, we will arrive at Dharmasala, a small stone shelter and resting place for trekkers preparing to cross the high pass. Though the facilities are very basic, the location is remarkable, set at the foot of the towering Larkya Peak. From here, we can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding snow-covered mountains and feel the anticipation of the challenging yet rewarding crossing of Larkya La the following day.

Day 12: Cross Larke Pass (5,106m/16,753ft) & Trek to Bhimtang (3,720m/12,205ft)

From Dharamsala, the journey to Bhimthang is the most challenging yet rewarding part of the Manaslu Circuit, as we cross the high and dramatic Larkya La Pass (5,160m). The trek begins early in the morning with a gradual ascent on a rocky and often snow-covered trail. The climb is steady but demanding due to the altitude and cold conditions. As we gain height, the views open up to incredible panoramas of Larkya Peak, Cheo Himal, Himlung, and Annapurna II. The approach to the pass is marked with prayer flags fluttering in the wind, signaling your arrival at one of the highest points of the trek. Standing atop Larkya La, we are rewarded with breathtaking 360-degree views of towering peaks, glaciers, and vast Himalayan landscapes.

The descent from the pass is long and steep at first, often crossing snowy or icy sections depending on the season. Gradually, the trail leads you down to grassy meadows and moraine valleys, where the scenery changes dramatically from barren highlands to lush alpine terrain. As you continue, the trail passes through yak pastures and forests of rhododendron and pine, offering a refreshing contrast after the stark mountain pass. Eventually, we arrive at Bhimthang, a beautiful village set in a broad valley with stunning views of Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, and other surrounding peaks. This is an excellent place to rest and celebrate the successful crossing of Larkya La Pass.

Day 13: Trek to Tilche (2,260m/7,415ft)

Leaving Bhimthang, you gradually descend through lush forests of pine and rhododendron, following the trail along the Dudh Khola with beautiful views of Mt. Manaslu, Himlung, and Lamjung Himal in the backdrop.  We gradually make our way down to the beautiful village of Tilche, passing small settlements and crossing suspension bridges over the Dudh Khola.

Day 14: Drive to Kurintar (280m/919ft)

After breakfast, load all the bag packs and get into the 4WD vehicle and begin the drive from Tilche (depends upon weather and road conditions). The road drive begins along the Marsyangdi River valley, passing Dharapani and continuing through Jagat and Chamje before reaching Besisahar, the main gateway town of the Annapurna Circuit. The initial section of the road is rough and bumpy, due to its off-road conditions and rocky terrain.

From Besisahar, the road improves, and you join the Prithvi Highway. The drive then follows the Marshyangi River corridor and reach Kurintar, winding through terraced fields, green hillsides, and charming small cities, with occasional views of the Himalayan peaks in the distance.

Upon arrival at Kurintar, we will check into the lodge and have a rest and relaxation.

Day 15: Drive back to Kathmandu.

After breakfast, continue driving back to Kathmandu for about 4 hours and check into the hotel. You will have time to relax after the long journey, breathe easily and just rest at your hotel before completing your Himalayan Adventure with us.
