Introduction

The Numbur Cheese Circuit Trek is one of the isolated trekking destinations of Nepal situated between Everest and Rolwaling ranges.  This trek offers a moderate adventure walk with camping experience at some places. The famous destination of Panch Pokhari Lakes of Ramechhap lies on the way. During the trek, you will find more than a dozens of cheese factory, where you will witness the procedure of preparing cheese.

This trek offers a spectacular view of Jugal Himal, Gaurishankar, Numbur Chuli, Ramdung Peak, and other snow-capped mountains. As this route lies in Gaurishankar Conservation Area, we can expect to see wild animals in-situ habitats.

Best Season 

Spring Season (March-May) and Autumn Season (September to Early December) are considered as the best time to visit as we can expect mild temperature in the day and night and clear blue sky. However, the unpredictable weather pattern of mountain can cause frequent changes in the weather of specific places. Before trekking, we will inform the estimated weather pattern and temperature for trekking period during briefing session.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be welcomed by a beautiful garland of seasonal flowers at the gate of the International Arrival Terminal.
With the final counting and loading of luggage into the vehicle, you will transfer to the hotel and check in.
After welcome refreshments, there will be a short briefing with the Infusion Trip Adventure Representative. You will get general information and orientation about the tour or trek.

Then you have free time in Kathmandu. You can explore the city.

Day 02: Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu and Trek Preparation

After breakfast, proceed for the sightseeing tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu.

Pashupatinath Temple – the Temple of Lord Shiva situated on the bank of the holy Bagmati River.

Bouddhanath Stupa- an ancient colossal stupa and the centre of Tibetan Buddhism in the world.

Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu Durbar Square) – an ancient durbar (palace) with numerous old palaces, temples and pagodas, the Temple of Living Goddess “Kumari”, and the Kasthamandap Temple, which is believed to be constructed from the wood of a single tree from which Kathmandu derives its name.  

We can also take you on a walk through the very busy & interesting traditional market of Asan & Indrachok. After the tour return to the hotel for rest and refreshments.

In the evening – welcome dinner and traditional show in an authentic Nepali restaurant in Kathmandu. You will enjoy your dinner with different types of dances.

Day 03: Drive to Jiri (1,920m/6,298ft)

In the morning, check out from the hotel and start a scenic drive to Jiri via Araniko Highway and Khadichaur-Jiri route. Along the ride, we will enjoy the view of beautiful landscapes including the important mineral sites of Magnesium, stunning views of the Rolwaling ranges including Jugal Himal, Gaurishankar Himal, and many other snow-capped peaks, the popular town of Khadichaur, Charikot and further Jiri, which is considered, the Switzerland of Nepal.

Day 04: Drive to Garjang and trek to Khahare (2,175m/7,134ft)

Check out from the hotel and start a scenic drive to Garjang via Shivalaya. Following the bank of the Khimti River, the road moves ahead to Garjang with ups and downs passing terraced fields via Dhaule. From Garjang, start to trek towards Khahare for about 2 hours. The area is inhabited during the winter season only as people migrate towards the mountain region (close to Tibet borders) with Yaks in the pastures grasslands during the summer season. Indulge in the peaceful nature and enjoy the sound of the river, the chirping of birds, lush green forests and the natural beauty and reach Khahare.

Day 05: Trek to Panipakha (3,105m/10,184ft)

In the morning, start to walk toward Panipakha for about 6 hours. From onwards, there will be camping. The trail follows the bank of the Khimti River and passes through the beautiful landscapes which offer the view of Khimti Khola. After a decent walk through the rhododendron forest, we reach Panipakha. It is facilitated with a basic cottage and a wooden hut with a camping ground.

Day 06: Trek to Maanedanda (3,940m/12,924ft)

On this day we will trek to Maanedanda passing through the small Sherpa Settlement, Phokte. The trail ascends through the majestic rhododendron forests to the summertime fields of Maanedanda. This camping spot is perfect to enjoy the natural ambience and beautiful surrounding sceneries.

Day 07: Trek to PanchPokhari (4,515m/14,810ft)

This day of walking leads us to the most interesting places of the entire trek. Today, we will reach the holy lake, Panch Pokhari (five lakes) where many pilgrims make their journey to worship Lord Shiva guarded by the sharp tridents during full moon days of June or July. We also visit Jata Pokhari across a beautiful waterfall in the lap of Mount Numburchuli.  Along the high altitude, we walk across the high pastures of Sunpati (Rhododendron Anthopogan), a rare mountain herb. During the festival time, a hundred pilgrims reach there with temporary shelters.

Day 08: Trek to Thare (4,140m)

Early morning, start trekking down to Thare crossing the pass of 4,600m. The trail descends to Khola Kharka and further towards the Nupche River via bamboo forests. En route, we can have fresh Yak cheese and also observe the cheese-making process. From the campsite, we will get a magnificent view of mountain ranges.

Day 09: Trek to Ngeju (3,690m)

Early in the morning, we will start to walk as we need to cross Gyajo La Pass (4,880m), also known as Thulo Lapcha Pass. The trail passes through a beautiful hill with a view of mountains and rivers. From the top of the pass, we can see the mountains of Tibet as well.  We will follow a path normally used by native Sherpas to get yaks through the peaks to Rakhidanda and Ngeju. We will now continue our trek further down from the Likhu glacier and vast debris. The trek downhill from the Likhu glacier will lead us to Ngeju (3,690m).

Day 10: Trek to Lhachhewar (2,750m)

After breakfast, start to trek towards Lhachhewar which is also known as Sewar. It is one of the most remarkable Sherpa Communities in the Upper Ramechhap Region. It is rich in astonishing landscapes, cultural wealth, and hospitable Sherpa people. ‘Sewar’ offers untouched Sherpa culture and tradition, harmony where people have maintained the traditional way of life. After a 5-hour walk from Ngeju, we will reach Lhachhewar and stay in a local homestay.

Day 11: Trek to Gumdel (2,260m)

The trail goes through the river valley and descends through the dense forests of Kyama. The journey offers stunning views of Numbur Chuli and Pathivara. After we reach Kyama, we will visit Thekchen Choling Monastery and continue walking towards Gumdel. We will explore the unique Sherpa Culture at Gumdel.

Day 12: Trek to Serding (3,360m)

Leaving Gumdel, we will walk across the dense forest enjoying the natural beauty and ascend to Pungnasa Danda (3,724m), from where we can get the view of Gauri Shankar and Numbur Chuli. 

After capturing the view, descend to Serding. In our free time, we will observe Yak Cheese preparation process and taste it.

Day 13: Trek to Deurali (2,700m)

After breakfast, descend to Deurali via Thodung. En route stop at Thodung to visit Thodung Monastery.  Thodung is a small active monastery surrounded by an aroma of pines, natural beauty, and a variety of flora that enhance the serenity of the monastery and its surroundings. We will further move downhill to Deurali from where we can see the breathtaking view of the Gauri Shankar Mountain.

Day 14: Drive back to Kathmandu

Meet the waiting vehicle and start a scenic drive back to Kathmandu for about 8 hours via Jiri retracing the same route. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, check into the hotel.  You will have time to relax after the long journey, breathe easily and just rest at your hotel before completing your Himalayan Adventure with us.

Day 15: Contingency day on trek or Kathmandu in case of bad weather or health issues.

If the plan goes smoothly with the flight on the required day/time, this day will be a free day in Kathmandu for leisure activities or sightseeing tours (on your own), last-minute shopping, bag packing, etc.
Eve: Farewell dinner at an authentic Nepali Restaurant in Kathmandu.

Day 16: Transfer to International Airport for final departure.

Timely transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport to board an onward flight to home country 3 hours earlier than the scheduled flight departing time. We wish you a happy journey during your flight from Nepal to your home country with the hope to see you on your next visit to Nepal.
