Pathivara Darshan Trek - 8 Days

Introduction

Pathibhara Darshan Trek is the religious trek to one of the Shaktipeeth of Nepal, Pathivara Devi Temple located in the hill of Taplejung at an elevation of 3,794m in the Kanchenjunga region of Nepal. It is also renowned as Mukkumlung (which is mentioned in the Mundum of the Limbu people). It is one of the most significant temples in Nepal and is also considered one of the holy places for the Limbu people. Worshippers from different parts of Nepal and India flock to the temple during special occasions, as it is believed that a pilgrimage to the temple ensures the fulfilment of the pilgrims’ wishes. It is considered one of the Shakti Peeth (power centers).

Before the trekking, we will fly from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur, south-eastern plain land of Nepal and drive to Taplejung region for 8 hours. During this drive, we will get diverse changes in the landscapes and weather as well. The trek starts and ends at Taplejung. In between, we may use local jeeps as some part are connected with road section.

Best Time to Visit

Spring Season (March-May) and Autumn Season (September to Early December) are considered as the best time to go for this trek as we can expect mild temperature in the day and night and clear blue sky. However, the unpredictable weather pattern of mountain can cause frequent changes in the weather of specific places. Before trekking, we will inform the estimated weather pattern and temperature for trekking period during briefing session.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be welcomed by a beautiful garland of seasonal flowers at the gate of the International Arrival Terminal.
With the final counting and loading of luggage into the vehicle, you will transfer to the hotel and check in.
After welcome refreshments, there will be a short briefing with the Infusion Trip Adventure Representative. You will get general information and orientation about the tour or trek.

Then you have free time in Kathmandu. You can explore the city.

Day 02: Half-Day Sightseeing Tour and Trek Preparation.

After breakfast, proceed for a half-day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu City including the World Heritage Sites. It includes a tour of two sites below:
Pashupatinath Temple – the Temple of Lord Shiva situated on the bank of the holy Bagmati River. The temple is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Bouddhanath Stupa– an ancient colossal stupa and the center of Tibetan Buddhism in the world
The rest of the day is free for trekking preparation, such as trekking gear shopping, packing on a duffle bag, etc.

In the evening – welcome dinner and traditional show in an authentic Nepali restaurant in Kathmandu. You will enjoy your dinner with different types of dances.

Day 03: Fly to Bhadrapur and drive to Ilam Bazar (1,210m/3,970ft)

Timely, check out from the hotel and transfer to Kathmandu Domestic Airport to board an onward flight to Bhadrapur for about 50 minutes.

And meet the awaiting vehicle and start to drive to Taplejung via Mechi Highway. En route, stop at Kanyam to explore the beautiful tea garden. Later, continue to drive through pristine landscapes of sloped tea gardens, and thick natural forests.

Upon arrival in Ilam Bazaar, check into the hotel and the rest of the time is free to stroll around Ilam Bazaar.

Day 04: Drive to Kaflepati (2,795m/9,121ft) and trek to Upper Phedi (3,188m/10,456ft)

After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and start driving towards Taplejung via Phidim. The scenic drive offers the breathtaking and magnificent sceneries of the snowcapped white mountains and lush green hills. With sufficient stops and rest for acclimatization, we will make a flexible journey to Taplejung Bazar (1,820m/5,970ft) From Taplejung, we will drive uphill towards Suketar (2,420m/7,938ft). Passing Suketar Airport side, we will drive on a gravel road further to Kaflepati. Upon arrival in Kaflepati, start trek to Upper Phedi where we will stay overnight.

Day 05: Excursion to Pathivara Devi Temple (3,770m/12,370ft) and return to Taplejung Bazar (1,820m/5,970ft)

Early morning, hike to Pathivara Devi Temple for worshipping Goddess Pathivara to about 3 hours. Every year, thousands of pilgrimages/devotees visit this temple. Mata Pathivara is also considered as goddess of desires. It is believed that the worshiper’s wishes and desires will be filled after visiting there. From the top, we will see stunning views of Himalayas such as Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586m), Mt. Kumbakarna. After worshipping, backtrack downhill to Upper Phedi and stops for Lunch. Then continue walk upto Kaflepati and meet the awaiting vehicle. In the afternoon, drive back to Taplejung Bazaar. The rest of the time is free to stroll around and explore Bazaar.

Day 06: Drive to Bhadrapur (90m/298ft)

After breakfast, check out from the lodge and start drive to Bhadrapur via Mechi Highway enjoying the view of green hills, snow-capped mountains, rivers, tea gardens and daily activities of the locals throughout the ride.

Day 07: Fly Back to Kathmandu and transfer to the Hotel

Timely checkout from the hotel and transfer to Bhadrapur Domestic Airport to board an onward flight to Kathmandu about 50 mins with the pleasant view of the Himalayan Ranges including Kanchenjunga-Makalu-Everest-Rolwaling-Langtang massif.

Upon arrival at Kathmandu, transfer and check into the hotel.
The rest of the day is free in Kathmandu for rest and refreshment.

Day 08: Transfer to International Airport for final departure.
