Makarighat-Ghusa-Simar-Api Base Camp
Mt. Api Himal, situated extreme northwest corner of Nepal, is highest peak in the Yoka Pahar Section of Gurans Himal, part of the Himalayas in the extreme northwest corner of Nepal, near the border with Tibet. The first ascent of Api occurred in 1960. The Doshisha Alpine Society of Japan successfully completed the Northwest Face route attempted by the Italian Group in 1954.
Api Himal Expedition is technically straightforward with several challenges before reaching the main summit. Hence, previous experience of technical peak climbing with good physical fitness, sound knowledge of the use of climbing gears including jumar, ascenders, ATC devices, ice-axe and other equipment is highly recommended to climbers for the successful summit of Api Himal.
Indulging into the Api Himal Base Camp Trek, one can observe the natural beauty and ecosystem of the region, which is more than just the spectacular Himalayan scenery. En route, you will see the Holy Lake, Kali Dhunga. Steep gorges, subtropical to alpine forests, vegetation, pastures, grasslands, waterfalls, lakes, streams and wild animals, cultural diversity, remote settlements, etc. are the attraction of this trek. Apart from the scenic beauty, off-beaten trails, and mysterious culture, the region offers a panoramic view of the 7,817-metre Mt. Nandadevi, which lies in Uttar Pradesh of India, Thado Dhunga Tuppa (5,368m), Api Himal, Rajamba (6,537m.), Kapchuli and many other peaks. The 6,850-metre peak of Kapchuli is also known as Jethi bahurani.
