Introduction

Mt. Amadablam (6, 812m) is one of the most spectacular and colossal mountains popular in the world with its unique features. It is one of the dreams to conquer the summit of every alpinist. As it has mixed adventure experience from trekking to the base camp (4,600m), climbing on technical rock, many traverses, 60-70° slopes, snow and ice climbing, every Everest Summiter wishes to climb Mt. Amadablam. For its soaring ridges and steep faces Amadablam is sometimes referred to as the “Matterhorn of the Himalayas.” The main peak is 6,812 meters (22,349 ft.), and the lower western peak is 6,170 meters (20,243 ft.).

Amadablam means “Mother’s necklace”; the long ridges on each side are like the arms of a mother (ama) protecting her child, and the hanging glacier is thought of as the Dablam, the traditional double-pendant containing pictures of the gods, worn by Sherpa women.

The truly adventurous camping at Camp I, II and III makes an unforgettable experience in life. With the 360° view of snow capped mountains including Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Cho Oyu, Nuptse, Taboche, Cholatse, and many more peaks.

For climbing Mt. Amadablam, you must have the experience of rock climbing (Grade upto 5.9+ to 5.10 a, b, c) and have a successful summit of two or more 6000+ meter peaks such as Lobuche East & Island Peak, Chulu East & West, Cholatse, Mt. Blanc, etc. and one 7000m peaks such as Baruntse, Himlung, etc.
